Biography
of Amber J. May
Amber J. May is a sixth grade mathematics
teacher at Whitten Middle School of Jackson Public Schools. This is her third year entering the classroom. She graduated from
Jackson State University, Magna Cum Laude, in May 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Degree. During her matriculation
at Jackson State University, Amber interned at the University of Iowa and conducted research in linear algebra. She was the
recipient of the H. T. Sampson Award in Mathematucs. She also participated in the Science and Technology Access to Research
and Graduate Education program where she conducted research on geographical information systems.
Amber’s future goals and ambitions in education
are to attend graduate school and obtain her master’s, specialist’s, and eventually doctorate. She also intends
to become an instructional specialist and administrator for Jackson Public Schools.
